Hello and welcome to the Saturday edition of Between the Pipes. The 2015-16 NHL season is officially in progress as clubs opened their training camps this week. Let's take a look at a few headlines making the rounds here in the early going.
Friday marked the first day of ice time for the Flyers veterans hit the ice this season and from the get-go, new Flyers head coach Dave Hakstol set the tone.
Hakstol brings a method of attack to the Flyers, a sense of urgency and playing a 200-foot game for 60 minutes. Through practices and the preseason, Hakstol said he would get the most real-time information to make conscious decisions on who would make the roster. Given the pace on the first day of ice time, Hakstol is doing just that.
Love him or hate him, Dan Carcillo was one of the members of the most memorable Flyers team in the last decade.
On Thursday, Carcillo became the fourth member of the 2010 Flyers to announce his retirement this offseason, joining Kimmo Timonen, Danny Briere and Simon Gagne. But Carcillo did it in the most interesting way.
